Chris Rosebrough: Dirty Mouth? Clean it Up!

July 7, 2008

Laodiceans,

Recently we were overjoyed that Uber-ODM, mentor, and all around nice gal, Ingrid, from Slice of Laodicea returned to the ranks of the Sanctified and Perfected and called down the wrath of God on all who thought George Carlin was an evil, dirty-mouthed, lying, going to hell, not made in the image of God reprobate. She wrote:

Yesterday I wrote about the passing of George Carlin and his legacy of mainstreaming a lot of moral filth. My critics claimed that I only saw him as a cultural war enemy and that I was too harsh and too outspoken about his gutter humor.

She also wrote:

It is singularly fitting that what passes for Christianity today would celebrate the life and comedic routines of George Carlin. In fact, based on the language and spirit of much in the purportedly Christian blog world today, I would say that there is no better representative icon of post-Christian Christianity than George Carlin.

We here at ODM agree. Kudos to Ingrid for having the courage to point out that George Carlin was a destructive force and that Christians ought not to have ever laughed at him or his jokes. Now let’s see her take her courage one step more.

I am sad to report that the trend of Christians using the potty-mouthed humor of secular jokers has reared its ugly head again. This time from respected ODM and Extreme Theologian Chris Rosebrough. Here’s the direct quote from his blog, Extreme Theology:

Bill Cosby tells a story about a friend who tried to convince him to try cocaine by claiming that it enhances one’s personality. Cosby’s retort was classic. He asked, “Yeah, but what if you’re an ass****?”

I think the same principle applies to being “Purpose-Driven” and “finding your purpose”.

I cannot tell you had saddened I am by this development. Chris Rosebrough has long been a respected member of the ODM community, but he evidently did not get the memo on this one: We ODM’s are opposing all things secular, all things comedy, all things laughter, all things fun and all things filthy-language oriented. You have got to be kidding me Chris!?! I am shocked and ashamed.

Well, here’s hoping that super-gal Ingrid will demonstrate the same courage on this one that she did against that heretic imonk and the backslidden boys of CRN.info. I know I am going to be hitting Slice quite a lot in the next day or so hoping to see if she blogs against this foul-mouthed, potty-mouthed, filthy-mouthed joke of an ODM.

Wake up people! Can’t you see there’s a war going on all around us? We don’t need the George Carlin’s and Bill Cosby’s of this world to make our theological points!!! Chris, by posting this line from Cosby you have totally undermined any authority or respect you may have once had. You need to get repenting.

I write because I care. I am always struggling for you in Laodicea because I love you. To paraphrase the words of our hero Ingrid:

When I re-read [Rosebrough's] utter disregard for the well-being of [everyone] in his audience [at Extreme Theology]…I feel true indignation.”

Me too.

Really. Truly. Sad.

We Agree: Christians Should Never Have Fun!

June 19, 2008

Laodiceans,

I have used this space in the past to warn you of the dangers of a certain blog whose author purports, falsely, to be a trained discernmentalist. It is not easy to come by these skills. I have been fortunate in my young career to be trained by some of the best, including, but not limited to, Itodyaso. The illustrious IT has taught me that discernmentalism is not a fun responsibility. It carries a heavy burden because what is at stake is heavy: The truth. I have learned that the truth war is nothing to scoff at and it is certainly not about fun. People are dying all of the place because the ammunition we use in the truth war doesn’t just impact the surface like a paintball ‘bullet,’ but rather, it penetrates deeply to the source quite like Ben Gay or Preparation H.

In short, we here at ODM do not take this responsibility lightly, but reverently, soberly, and with sincere hearts.

Thus we welcome back to the fold of serious ODM’s our comrade in keyboard, Slice of Laodicea, who sometime yesterday got it right and bravely reminded us of the serious truth that Christians do not have fun–especially on Sunday mornings, especially on Father’s Day, and especially in churches we do not worship with on a regular basis, have never visited, and have not placed our membership, given a tithe or an offering, or participated in a ministry program or evangelistic call or listened to a sermon by the preacher; especially churches we judge because we have one picture sent to us by a spy. In this post, she has warned us of the dangers of staging ‘faux sumo wrestling.’ This is most important because, as we all know, faux sumo wrestling is strictly prohibited in the New Testament.

It is important that we continue showing people all around the world that what defines Christians is not childlike joy, not happiness, not celebration, not fun, not laughter but seriousness, reverence, fear, shuddering, trembling, gloom, despair and agony, Oh me!, deep dark depression, excessive misery. Thank you Slice of Laodicea for reminding us of the dangers of fun, laughter, silliness, and excessive joy. We wouldn’t want any of these things infecting the true church.

And for all the rest of you, get in line! Turn those smiles in frowns!

Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” (James 4:9-10, NIV)

Remember, I struggle for you.

Michael Horton: Slouching Towards Gomorrah or Risky Business?

June 17, 2008

Laodiceans,

I haven’t been writing much lately, and I am sorry about that. Happily, life is taking on new twists and turns and me and my family have been busily looking for our first house. Not only that, but I have been engaging in a major battle of words with that fake dangoldfinch over at Life Under the Blue Sky. Goldfinch is such a fake and I think someone needs to expose him for the fake he is.

Anyhow, here’s what is eating at me today. Michael Horton, professor at Westminister Theological Seminary, author, host of the White Horse Inn, has done something that really, really frightens me. We have learned from other discernmentalists that it is a dangerous thing to use illustrations from pop culture–especially the world of film. I even learned recently that it is against the rules to quote from Dr Seuss when making a point about the Gospel. We agree! There is no place for such childish, and clearly products of the devil in our worship services.

This is why I am so torn up today. White Horse Inn is normally a very reliable resource for getting at the real, hard-core truth. Michael Horton is normally a profound thinker, theologically orthodox Gospelnator. This video episode (from May 18, Selling Jesus) of the White Horse Inn features Michael Horton opening the program with, gasp, an illustration from, I can barely say this without partially regurgitating my unfrostedstrawberry pop tarts, a Tom Cruise movie: Risky Business!

There are many of you in our sphere of influence who, like us, count on the sound expositions of the Gospel by people like Dr Horton, but if we are to do our job correctly, and faithfully, and evenhandedly, then we must call out Dr Horton on this serious transgression of ethics. This is sad, sad, sad and terribly disturbing. We simply cannot stand for Gospelizers who use illustrations from movies that are filled with gratuitous s**, exploitation of women, drug use, alcohol consumption, prostitution, public s**, violence, crime, cigarette smoking, partial nudity, dancing, secular music, and a star actor who is a Scientologist.

Now I know Horton used the illustration as a negative example, and I know this is a radio program and not a ‘church’ per se. Nevertheless, church people watch and listen to the White Horse Inn. I wonder how many hapless Christians will be interested in this film and rush right out to Blockbuster to rent it? I fear this is an example of Dr Horton slouching toward Gomorrah–using a fantastic, scintillating hook to rope people in to the story. I think he could have chosen a better film, say a Christian film like Left Behind or Facing the Giants.

One Holy Movie!

I am calling on Dr Horton to rebuke himself and to edit this videpisode of White Horse Inn to reflect his sincere repentance at this gaffe. The opening few minutes need to be excised so that this terrible illustration from a film about ‘human pleasure’, a film about ‘fleshly indulgence,’ will not be heard by the hapless Christians who cannot tell their right hands from their left feet. Dr Horton: You are hereby on notice! We will continue to warn people of your use of such illustrations and your less than holy approach to teaching people the Gospel. Repent!

I care for you in Laodicea and I want you to know that it pained me to listen to this episode of WHI knowing that I had to listen, at the beginning, to a lengthy description of this horrible film. Please write to the White Horse Inn and let them know that you do not appreciate their use of secular films to make their points, no matter how valid those points may be. These are dangerous times, and we cannot continue this sort of nonsense We need people who will abandon all such illustrations and get back to the truth. Dr Horton has clearly proved that he cannot be trusted here in Laodicea.

A Serious Concern & A Serious Praise & Rules of Engagement for Serious ODMs

May 1, 2008

Laodiceans,

This post might be a little longer, but I think it will be worth your time. I have two points to make about blog posts of so-called discernmentalists (emphasis on the ‘mental’ part). Before I make the two points about two different blogs, I would like to take a little time to lay out what I believe to be eleven very important aspects of the work we do here at ODM. You might call these the ‘Ten Commandments’ of judgmentalism discernment, but since there are actually eleven, and since we do not mock the word of God by making silly metaphors like this, I’ll just say it is eleven very important rules of judgmentalism discernment. Here they are:

  1. I think the most important aspect is to keep as many people out of heaven as possible. We don’t want heaven too crowded as that might make it difficult for those of us who truly deserve to be there because we follow the rules. (This will be demonstrated in part 2 of this post.)
  2. I think in order to do this we must constantly be alerting you to the myriads of false teachers that are nothing more than wolves in sheep’s clothing. We take this very, very seriously.
  3. It is also import to nullify any silly notions that we are saved by grace and not by keeping rules. To do this, we continually add new rules to the Scripture and judge discern those who break them.
  4. It is most important that we keep tabs on the church and identify all sinners, while carefully maintaining our own sinlessness, because, clearly, the Lord does not have enough time to ‘Annanias and Sapphira’ the unworthy. We thank God constantly that we are not like the sinners in the church.
  5. It is important that we keep the real Enemy of the church happy and his home populated by running down anyone who wears the name ‘Christian’ in a way we discern is not Christian at all. The Bible was written for us to do this very thing.
  6. To protect heaven’s purity from all fake Christians. (This is similar to number 1, but also different.)
  7. Most significantly, we want to continue pointing out to the real world why hate is a necessary theological construct in the church. If we do not have a proper theology of hate how will the world ever know who the real disciples of Jesus are.
  8. We want to protect the church from all sinners who might ruin it for us. The church is not a hospital for sinners, but rather a museum for dusty relics to be admired by passers by.
  9. We want to solidify our power base so that we might control what all people think about Scripture, the church, Jesus, and how to administer ‘justice’ in the world. We are the determiners of what is right and true worship. There must be no imagination, no contemplation, no change in the church. We should reflect a Puritan system of worship and sing hymns alone written by dead people who are only too aware of our current cultural situations.
  10. To protect unbelievers from anything that smacks of Jesus. Seriously, we don’t really want people to be saved by the Gospel, but brainwashed by ‘gospel.’
  11. We hope to continue doing ‘our father’s’ bidding. (With apologies to CS Lewis and Screwtape.)

Now, to be sure, there are other objectives that we have and this is really just a preliminary list. I’m sure others have done a better job of articulating our Mission Statement. If I have failed, I will gladly renounce my membership in the church.

Finally, two last points. One point of warning and another of praise.

First, the warning. I am sick of the fake discernmentalist over at Slice. She constantly tries to convince us of her holiestness and righteousnessism, but we are not so convinced. Here is the latest travesty of this debacle of a discernment blog. All you have to do is look at her ‘blogroll’ and you will see a link to another blog called ‘Always Ready‘ which purports to:

It is my desire to fulfill the great charge of this passage by addressing theological errors directly from the Scriptures, as well as by posting edifying material for those who desire to grow in knowledge of the truth. This I will do with God’s help and to his greater glory.

The problem is this: The author of Always Ready posted a poem the other day by noted Roman Catholic by birth converted to Anglicanism P*** Poet John Donne. That’s right. John Donne may have written much ‘religious’ poetry in his later years, but his early years are marked by a clear involvement in the underground world of P***. Here is an excerpt from Wikipedia:

Donne’s early career was also notable for his erotic poetry, especially his elegies, in which he employed unconventional metaphors, such as a flea biting two lovers being equated to sex.[7] In Elegy XIX, “To His Mistress Going to Bed,” he poetically undressed his mistress and compared the act of fondling to the exploration of America. In Elegy XVIII he compared the gap between his lover’s breasts to the Hellespont.[7] Donne did not publish these poems, although he did allow them to circulate widely in manuscript form.[7]

We fail to see how this sort of poetry is going to ‘edify’ anyone, let alone Christians. I think all of us can see clearly that Slice of Laodicea is pandering to the world of p*** by advocating a link to ‘Always Ready.’ We are at a loss to know how anyone can be ready when they are so brazenly involved in advocating p***. Here is an example of Donne’s writing from Elegy XIX. Notice first how he writes about his ‘mistress’ and second how he makes reference to ‘Mahomet’s Paradise.’ I guess we can safely say that perhaps Slice is also, along with Always, advocating Islam:

A heaven like Mahomet’s Paradise; and though
Ill spirits walk in white, we easily know
By this these Angels from an evil sprite:
They set out hairs, but these the flesh upright.

License my roving hands, and let them go
Behind before, above, between, below.

All of us, then, have much here to be concerned about when it comes to Slice and Always. You have again been warned.

Second, we have a word of praise. In keeping with our first stated purpose above, we have nothing but praise for Lighthouse Trails Research. If you are lucky enough to get on the front page after clicking that link (they are so busy that sometimes the Internet is jammed up from the traffic) you will see on their front page that NO ONE is going to heaven except the blessed administrators of Lighthouse Trails Research and a few who write books for them to make a profit from. This makes us happy. We are glad that they, along with us of course, will someday enjoy the Father’s bounty. We are glad that they are exposing the world, including non-Christians, to the dangers of so many different fake Christians and Bibles. We are glad they are warning us about the Eugene Peterson’s, Rick Warren’s, and Bill Hybels among others. Oh, and we are especially grateful for this page which warns us of all the dangerous ‘Christian’ organizations like Christianity Today, Focus on the Family, and more. Also, if you belong to any of the following denominations, you may as well forget about heaven: American Baptist, Church of the Brethren, ELCA, PCUSA, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, and more. Also, if you are reading David Jeremiah, Chuck Swindoll, David Seamands (that heretic Dan Goldfinch wrote a review praising a book by Seamands), Brother Lawrence, Henri Nouwen, Eugene Peterson, Rick Warren among others–your salvation is in danger, and we are glad.

I can only speak for myself, but I am fairly certain that Dr Spurgeon and I Todyaso will agree: Gladly there will be more room in heaven for us without the millions represented by these denominations being there. Thanks Dombrowski’s for keeping them out for us.

We say a hardy Thank You to Lighthouse Trails Research for saving the Lord time on judgment day by discerning now, in the present, all who are bound to hell. This will free up the Lord’s hands and give Him more time to pat on the back those of us who are really laboring for the Kingdom. These folks are my new heros (but only just because I don’t want to be accused of idol worship): David and Deboroah Dombrowski! Three cheers for them!

I know this is a long post, and I applaud you for sticking it out with me. I encourage you to leave congratulatory remarks praising the Dombrowski’s for their fearlessness in the face of the obvious persecution they must be facing here in America for publishing some very important works by noted and remarkable authors. And we here at ODM reject any notions that they are running down other authors and publishing houses and ministries and para-church organizations and churches and preachers, etc., in order to make their own books more attractive and a bigger profit for their own for-profit publishing company. There is no way on the planet that these two upstanding disciples would ever sink to such levels of depravity in order to make a buck.

So, to sum up: Slice promotes a blog that promotes p***, Lighthouse Trails Research is simply going above the call of duty keeping heaven free from delinquent and poser Christians, and there are at least eleven rules governing the work that we, and most, ODM’s do.

Thank you and remember: If you are a in Laodicea, we are struggling for you. We do not want you to be left behind. Please join our crusade to convert all Emergents, Purposians, Contemplatives, Liberal Democrats to a more wholesome, whiter, more Republican version of the Faith once Delivered. And remember, we are struggling for you.

struggle4laodicea

PS–I have conveniently written P*** as such to prevent those of you with filters from not seeing this post. That’s how much we care. Too bad Ingrid doesn’t care that much.

PPS–I am sorry if I have offended you by publishing an excerpt from Donne’s p*** poetry. If I have offended anyone–well, tough. That’s the price you have to pay to know the truth!

Chris Rosebrough: Closet Hindu no More!

April 25, 2008

Friends,

Here we go again! It seems that our work here at ODM is never foloinished, but we must be diligent in our work to expose you to the doctrinal errors of those who are just a little lower on the sanctificationalism chart than we are. We are the lizard kings, we can do anything.

What I have learned by being a member of the writing force here at the ODM is that words mean things. Recently, for example, I finished reading a book called The Shack. I was warned by a very important ODM that the author of the book is secretly or overtly a proponent of astral projection and New Age theology because, in the book, he tells of a dream where he was flying. Scary. (I had a dream the other night that I was sleeping so I guess that means I am advocating, uh, sleep.) But the point is that words mean things. Words are not devoid of content even when they are ripped out of their context. So all those grammar lessons we spent time going over in Junior High are meaningless: Context gives us no clues whatsoever when it comes to the meaning of words. And I’m not even going to get into what the author states he believes, or what the author’s stated intentions are, or the theological content of those who endorse and author’s book. (I knew I would find a way to get back at all those teachers who insisted I anaylyze the context for clues so as to find the meaning of paragraphs. In your face Mrs Clapsaddle!)

All that matters, and it is important that you repeat this with me slowly, is this: What are the words and what do they mean. Remember these four things do not matter: Context, Intent, Beliefs, Endorsements. All that matters is the words themselves. So, it is with great remorse that we must lay to rest one of the great ODM’s of our day, Extreme Theology (and, I think, by extension, alittleleaven; or, as Ingrid, former uber-ODM and recent apostate, likes to call it alotofleaven). Now I will explain why it is necessary for you to abandon all hope that you will ever learn anything extremely theological from extreme theology:

HOLY COW!”

Friends, this is proof enough that Chris Rosebrough is a Hindu and worships sacred cows (pun intended). And, to make it worse, this sentence is in perfect context (I am breaking my own ODM rules by keeping it in context!) I don’t think there is anything else that even needs to be said about this because you can see it here for yourself. I’m not making this stuff up folks: Truth is stranger than fiction.  All this time we have been led to believe that Extreme Theology was about Biblical Theology, and on our side in the Truth War, and it turns out that it was actually about worshiping cows, or at least venerating them, which is a major, major aspect of the Hindu ‘faith’. I think it is safe to say: Extreme Theology is lame and, like most of what we discern around here, practicing a ‘many approaches to God’ sort of theology.

So here’s another friendly warning: Stay away from so-called ‘biblical’ ministries like Extreme Theology and ALittleLeaven. They are dangerous factions of a ‘many ways to God’ sort of theology. They are as corrupt as Tim Reed whose heretical views on Karma have been exposed and chronicled here at the ODM. Listen folks, don’t take this lightly: Words mean things. Nowhere in the Bible are we told to call cows ‘Holy.’ Only God is Holy (See Isaiah 6). This is terribly disappointing and I know many of you will be lost. But take heart! We here at ODM are accepting all former clients and patients of Extreme Theology and ALittleLeaven (have your insurance card handy). We want you to know that we are here for you because we care (or because we don’t) but either way, what does it matter, we are here. If you are interested in real discernment, then this is the place to be! Forget the phonies and get your real discernment from the experts.

struggle4laodicea

PS–If anyone has ever been saved by a ‘holy cow’ would you please email us here at ODM? We would love to share your story.

PPS–Chris, we are sorry you are apostate. We hope you will get back to earning your salvation by practicing right theology.

Slice is Losing it!

April 23, 2008

Fellow Laodiceans,

We here at ODM are normally very supportive of Slice of Laodicea, but I have to stop for a minute and discern. I seriously think the author of slice is, well, losing it. That is, losing her special discernmentalist powers. She must be sitting near kryptonite or krispy kremes.

She is now concerned because Ravi Zacharias did not pray in Jesus’ Name at a National Day of Prayer event. Wrote the author of Slice:

Shirley Dobson must give an answer to Christians around the world as to why the name of Jesus is absent from the prayer.

Uh, GET ON THAT SHIRLEY! Damnation*,  how could you be so freaking stupid, SHIRLEY? After all your husband is like the pope of the protestant church! You must be a stark, raving lunatic to forget that the Bible specifically mentions in 2 Matthew 23:29, 4 Mark 4:10, 8 Thessalonians 79:134, and 15 Revelation 7957:4109: “Thou shalt pray in the Name of Jesus or you will most certainly die a painful, humiliating death.” And you, Ravi…I have no words for you. What a disgrace.

But I have words for the author of slice. First of all, while I can commend you for thinking that we should pray in Jesus’ Name (See John 14:13 for example) and I am terribly disappointed at you. You see, the same Bible that you just crushed Shirley and Ravi with also says this, “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:17). Now I have read quite a few of your blog posts and you know what? I don’t recall seeing any of them end with the words: “IN Jesus’ Name.” Now, if we are to do ALL things in Jesus’ Name, why are you not blogging in His Name? Are you ashamed of Jesus’ Name? Ingrid, I’m sorry to tell you this but you are not righteous enough to call yourself a discernmentalist! You are a fake. A Phony. A Fraud. And a dis-grace to the profession. I demand that you explain yourself to all Christians why you do not blog in Jesus’ Name!!! Here is a link to Ingrid’s contact information so you can ask her why she doesn’t obey the Scripture and blog in Jesus’ Name.

Second of all, and this is where Ingrid is really going to be up a creek without a paddle. You see, I have a Bible and I read it. And I remember two very specific prayers that Jesus prayed in the Bible. One is an example of how Christians ought to pray and is found in Matthew 6. When Jesus finished modeling prayer for his people, he failed to pray in his own name. Also, Jesus prayed a very long prayer in John 17 and you know what? He failed to pray in his own Name at the end of that prayer too. I am very disappointed, at this point, that Ingrid hasn’t called out Jesus on this. I would think that surely the Son of God would know better than to not pray in His own Name. INGRID, I DEMAND THAT YOU CALL OUT JESUS ON THIS ONE. THAT IS THE LEAST YOU CAN DO FROM YOUR PERCH HIGH ATOP THE LADDER OF RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Friends and fellow pilgrims, I am giving you ample warning: Stay away from Ingrid. She is no discernmentalist. She doesn’t even blog in Jesus’ Name and She won’t call out Jesus for failing to pray in his own Name.

In Jesus’ Name,

struggle4laodicea

ps–May the Lord have mercy on me and forgive me if I have crossed the line. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

pps–I hope you get my point. I seriously think someone needs to put a stop to this. This is outrageous.

*The Lord Editor I. Todyaso will add editor’s comment here: The usage of “damanation” is biblical as it is in the KJV. See Matthew 23:14. Since Jesus Himself said the word, we need press our children to also be biblical. It is well as long as we do not cuss like Mark Driscoll or Tony Jones. In Jesus Name.

A Slice of Worship

April 22, 2008

Laodiceans,

It is worse than I thought, and once again you need to be made aware of a disturbing trend that is being pushed by certain bloggers. (HT: Emergent) The trend is to limit the time of worship to a mere hour. We are given 168 hours per week (HT: My calculator) to live, and move, and have our being, but now former uber-ODM, the author of slice of laodicea, is advocating that we only give an hour per week back to the Lord: (HT: Slice of Laodicea)

Here’s the quote in context:

I received this press release this morning calling on Christians to shut down worship services and go help the poor. Rather than set aside an hour for the express worship of our Lord and King and then go out and serve, we are being told that serving poor people is worship and nothing else is needed. [My emphasis.]

You can see it there in plain English (HT: England): ‘an hour’ for ‘express worship’. Talk about your ‘drive-through’ worship! We strenuously object to this line (HT: Demi Moore). We just cannot understand why the author of slice would all of a sudden favor such short worship times. Seriously: Express Worship? Isn’t that what they sell at McDonald’s: Express breakfast? (HT: McDonald’s) Or is it Holiday Inn? (HT: Holiday Inn)Shame on the author of slice for linking the church to McDonald’s. We here at TheODM feel that this is an egregious error on the part of our former compatriot in the truth war (s). (HT: John MacArthur) Worship should NOT be limited to only an hour. We agree with the Scripture which says that we should do all things to the glory of God. (HT: Paul) We believe that ALL time belongs to God and therefore all things should be worship. (HT: The Bible) To limit our ‘time’ of worship to a mere hour is far below the standards of any properly defined Discernment Ministry. (HT: Itodyaso) We think that one should only help the poor for an hour a week and the rest of the time should be dedicated to worship. In fact, most people should quit (HT: Barry Sanders) their day jobs for this purpose too. In fact, who cares about the poor! (HT: Judas Iscariot)

Now, on a brighter note (HT: The Sun), we are happy that the author of slice has taken time out of her schedule (but she only needs an hour for worship this week so she has plenty of time to spare) to remind all you vandals (HT: Goths & Visigoths) about the rules of posting and ‘borrowing’ from the writings of others. (HT: Plagiarism) This is why above I was only able to quote a snippet. (HT: snip and puppet) Here’s what the article says and again, my apologies for not quoting the entire post, but the author has forbidden it. Here’s the best I can do without having to worry about copyright infringement: (HT: ©)

….It’s fine to excerpt and cut and paste…without asking permission. I’m not upset with anyone…but I am noticing a disturbing trend by columnists and bloggers alike these days….I have…issues. I’m only requesting…Carrington Steele…dare someone to come after…you, readers.

Well, I did my best to heed the implied threat in this sentence: “I spoke this morning with an author of several Christian (HT: Antioch) books and many articles…who lifted without attribution…Whole sections of articles, entire posts cut and pasted into others’ blogs with nothing but a HT (hat tip)…I’ll come after…you…in…the future.” (1) (1) But as you can see, I clearly did not simply ‘cut and paste’ the entire blog post. Instead, I very carefully did what the author said and ‘cut and pasted’ the more salient points and I have provided numerous links back to her blog.

We applaud this hard line taken by the author and we will give serious consideration to allowing her to rejoin the ranks of serious discernment ministries like ours. But until we can convince the author of slice to worship for more than an hour per week, we are afraid she is just not up to snuff. I am in this for you, Laodiceans. I am hopeful that my agony for you will be worth it all. I hope you will be careful around this very dangerous blog.

Tim Reed Advocates Cross-Dressing Hinduism as a Way of Salvation

April 14, 2008

Laodiceans,

I am a sad, sad discernmentalist today. I have no happy news for you on this April day before taxes are due. I have been following closely the blog of a fella who is known in the blogging world as ‘an enemy of the faith’ and justifiably so. Here. Here. Here. This morally reprehensible young man once actually invited musicians to use HIS church building for a concert. We here at ODM have been concerned about Reed for some time, but today is the final straw.

He contributes to a blog called “Church Voices.” This blog is full of all sorts of heresies, so many in fact that I won’t bother listing them all. Now, I know when most people hit a blog they look at the first article or two, or link to a specific page, but rarely, only rarely, do they scroll all the way to the bottom of the page to see who designed the page, or looking for the ‘previous entries’ tab, or to see the spam protection device. Not so here at ODM: We do the research you don’t have time to do. I scrolled down and the bottom of Church Voices and I saw this: “This blog is protected by dr. Dave’s Spam Karma 2.” Well, it should be clear to all at this point: Tim Reed supports Hinduism and is an avid listener of Culture Club and is secretly a huge fan in particular of Boy George (and he probably enjoys watching “My Name is Earl” on that filthy TV network NBC). Let me demonstrate the links for you so that it is clear:

Tim Reed writes at Church Voices—–Church Voices is Protected by dr Dave’s Karma—–Karma is an integral part of Hinduism—–Culture Club sang a song called “Karma Chameleon”—–Tim Reed had let some musicians use his building once—–Boy George is a musician—–Boy George is a cross-dressing homosexual—–Tim Reed Supports cross-dressing homosexuals musicians who believe in Karma—–Tim Reed is a heretic par excellence and advocates cross-dressing Hinduism as a way of salvation.

Mr Reed I am calling you out because I am concerned. You cannot have it both ways. You cannot have a blog titled ‘Church Voices’ and expect to be taken seriously when your blog is protected by Karma. This should demonstrate that all those posts at SOL were completely, perfectly in context, perfectly described Tim Reed’s pluralistic worldview and his ‘many paths to God’ approach to salvation. Mr Reed needs to change his ways and fast. He is treading very heavily on very thin ice and is about to fall through. Here are some steps you can take in order to get back in our good graces:

  1. Denounce Dr Dave’s Karma Spam protector and go with a more ‘christian’ version of spam protection (maybe you can find something at Eharmony.
  2. Renounce your advocacy of Cross-Dressing Hinduism as a way of salvation.
  3. Repent of your disgusting sin and your ‘enemyism of the faith’
  4. Add a link on your blogroll to SOL.
  5. Add a link on your blogroll to ODM.
  6. Write 200 times: John 3:16.
  7. REPENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Take down your posters of Boy George from your office walls!!
  9. Stop TIVOing My Name is Earl.
  10. Say…well, I guess you can’t say 2000 ‘Our Fathers’ because we are also opposed to Catholicismism… so just repeat 1 John 1:9 800 times.
  11. Make a contribution to the Tip Jar at A Little Leaven.
  12. Listen to Crosstalk Radio for a week, tape it, and distribute it to the homeless so they can be ‘warm and fed’ and be protected from the heresies of people like yourself.
  13. Be baptized for 15 Dead people.
  14. Visit Exodus International in order to better understand the plight of cross-dressers
  15. Read 5 books about Ghandi.

This should help Mr Reed get back in our good sanctificationalismtion and should absolve all the remnants of sin that the Grace of Jesus couldn’t quite handle. Remember, we are here to help because we care. We only expect perfection; we steadfastly deny your right to think on your own. We will protect all Laodiceans from this sort of anarchy in the Blurch (blog/Church) where ideas are not free, where speech is not protected, and where people worship daily. Too many people are on the internet for us not to care. Rev Mr Pastor Mahatma Reed remember we care and we love you or we would not be involved in this…

More Laodicean Mockery

April 8, 2008

Friends,

It is getting worse. Yesterday researching Oprah and The Secret. Today: Using the Name of Christ in a mocking, nursery rhyme way. That’s right. The author of the post in question has used the Name of Christ as the title to a blog post in a way that is simply degrading and potentially blasphemous: Here a Christ, There a Christ. (I don’t think this is what Jesus had in mind in Matthew 24.) Friends, the blogger in question is a very influential discernmentalist whose work is of utmost importance. However, this will not do. I suggest that you send an email asking that this sort of blasphemy stop now. I am very, very concerned because we need the author on our side–fighting the for the cause of keeping little boys and girls in their own sex-specific clothing and warning us of the dangers of those heretics over at CRN.info and Analysis. Please, please, I implore you to beware of the dangers of wolves dressed up like sheep. (We should criticize the wolves for the fact that they are cross-dressing and the fact that they are WOLVES! WOLVES!!!) I am calling on all spiritually discerning folks out there to join me in my…

The Dangers of Laodicea: You Have Been Warned!!!!

April 8, 2008

Laodiceans,

You know how I struggle for you. Literally, I am agonizing over you. I want you to be safe at all costs. That is why I am bringing you this update. Here is something I read at a certain online discernment blog:

I’ve known about The Secret and the promotion of the Law of Attraction for some time now, but had never studied it in depth. After receiving a not yet publicly released DVD called The Source of The Secret and after viewing all 67 minutes of it, I have been reading a great deal more about this whole teaching. A researcher friend of mine today suggested I listen to a clip from Oprah Winfrey from exactly a year ago where she interviewed Esther Hicks, author of The Law of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham on her satellite radio show.

As you can see, the author of the particular blog in question has, curiously, been ‘dabbling’ in mystery teachings such as ‘The Secret,’ ‘The Laws of Attraction,’ and ‘Oprah.’ I know there are many of you who frequent this dangerous blog, so I am warning you to beware. Evidently, there is ‘research’ going on a ‘great deal’ of reading on these subjects, and listening to Oprah Winfrey–as far back as a year ago! I think it is dangerous to listen to anything Oprah–even as close as a day ago–so I am at a loss to know why someone is digging up stuff from a year ago.

Friends, I am giving you a stern warning: BEWARE! It appears that the author in question is dabbling in things that might lead her down a dangerous, slippery slope from whence there is no return. Now mind you, it is quite irrelevant why the author is doing all this research into Oprah and The Secret and the Laws of Attraction. The point is, the author is opening up her mind to dangerous teachings. Would you, fellow Laodiceans, join me in my struggle to save the soul of this dabbler? (There is even an outside link to a dangerous myspace page where one can hear further teaching on this subject!!!!!) My friends, this is of great concern to me. I used to think very highly of the author in question, but now I am concerned that she might actually be lost. Who knows what depths of depravity are at the myspace link!!! After all, research had to be done in order to find these links. I hope you can see my concern. Won’t you join me in my…

ps-this is really, really sad. I really hate seeing a fellow discernmentalist going down in flames like this. Isn’t there something more we can do to help those caught in the Oprah web of lies?
