Eric Barger’s Take A Stand Ministries Notes Rick Warren’s Outrageous-Heretical-Emergent-Error, ODmafia notes Bad Grammar- And Bad Hair Cut Statements

reconcile2Eric Barger’s Take  A Stand Ministries (TSM), often on the cutting edge on new hair styles and discernmentalist insights thankfully highlights the following (linked from TSM) about the subversive nature of Rick Warren’s heretical statements (please cover your children’s eyes):

Warren says that he recently told a group of business leaders, (GASP) “The future of the world is not secularism. It’s religious pluralism… The world is becoming more religious, not less. Christianity is growing around the world at a rapid pace through conversion, and Islam is growing at a rapid [rate] due to births…We’re going to have to minister in a context where we…learn how to get along.”

Clearly outrageous that he calls followers of Jesus to get along with non-christians. Luckily for us we cannot locate those pesky verses such as’ love your enemies, do good to those who hate us’ and so on. Love your neighbours? Liberal! Love your enemies? Unbiblical!

If Warren thinks we will get along with everyone….that is complete non sense and so unbiblical. You can also read it here at TRUE DISCERNMENT (another expert discernmentalist) Remember – get mad and angry at your enemies and treat them with contempt!

We NEED to be more like John and James who wanted destruction to reign down on the Samaritan village! We TOO encourage biblical wanton destruction of all who seek a peaceable way of spreading the gospel….unless its a war….its NOT THE TRUTH!

It is sad that you pull statements made by Rick Warren out of the overall contxt of his false teachings and then draw a false conclusion about Discernment ministries from his words.

No one that I know of in any discernment Ministry says as Christians we should be antagonistic and not be civil and gracious with non-Christians. Or that we should hate non-Christians. I mean come on! Hating is anathema to Biblical Teaching!

Discernment Ministries have a much longer and deeper understanding and documentation of Rick Warren’s false teachings than you give them credit for.

And they like I have drawn conclusions about him based his own words and actions over a period of years.

you show by this article that you are not really interested in getting at the truth or able to do good in-depth research.

Rick Warren by his own words is not just interested in Christians being more civil with people of other religions. His goal is to hamronize the beliefs of what he calls the “Abrahamic Faiths” i.e. Christianity, Islam and Judaism. His belief is that we all worship the same God.

We know that this is not true as Islam’s god is Allah whose is a false god and was actually the chief diety of the Arabian pagan god in Mecca and Muhammad just co-opted the name to use in his new mish-mash false religion.

Rick Warren’s idea of “getting along” with other religions is accepting some of their teachings as valid and also accepting their false god as the same as the One True God as described in God’s Word The Bible.

We also know by the law of non-Contradiction that Allah cannot be the same as the God of the Bible. As Allah’s words contradict God’s words. And if there is a one True God he cannot contradict himself otherwise he could not be all knowing! This means the Koran is false or the Bible is false, or both are false but both cannot be true!

    John,

thanks for your reply. I will move out of character here to try to answer your objection.

    1) I don’t agree with everything Rick Warren has done….but he has been villainized by many in the so-called discernment camp.

    2) I recognize that discernment ministries have a wide spectrum of understanding and research….some are VERY good. I have found however that more than enough apply TOO much over zealous discernment (which is merely opinion clouded with misunderstandings) and very little humility

    3) Therefore we at ODMafia take on the characters of many of the zealous discernmentalism a characterize elements of how these ministries operate and think. ie we are a satire.

    4) re: We know that this is not true as Islam’s god is Allah whose is a false god and was actually the chief diety of the Arabian pagan god in Mecca and Muhammad just co-opted the name to use in his new mish-mash false religion.

Quoting your last point is NOT going to win over any Muslims by an ‘attack and smash’ apologetic. We recognize Allah as a false God, but also recognize that Allah can be used generically to denote God. Fair enough Paul in Acts did something similar. It can be starting point of a Christian to recognize that WE too believe in ONE God. We do not have to assent any further than that…but use scripture to reveal Jehovah.

Getting along with other religions is NOT complacency and biblical sloppiness….rather it is an attempt at loving your enemies so that they may see the ‘face of Jesus.’ We don’t have to agree with them, but can find commonalities and starting points (ie Paul did this in Acts too).

I have befriended numerous NON Christians over the years with a variety of beliefs and views…they are not my enemies….I love them and hope that relationships build until I can share Jesus….this works well because it is on the basis of trust. Some want to know MORE about Jesus, others do not.

Therefore it is my contention that far TOO many in their zeal to safe-guard JESUS attack everything they do not understand, and misunderstand those like Warren we think we are threatened by.

I am also stepping out of character.

Just so this is out there… here is one good discernment ministry that tries to be fair and balanced without being sensationalist. I may not agree with all he states, but I still recommend his site. http://www.carm.org/

I also see http://www.bible.com/ as a good resource.

I still recommend http://www.equip.org/ though again I do not agree with all of their views.

Note I do not agree but still see these sites as “good”? If a site does not lie to promote truth or sensationalize with dramatics or mix politics into the faith of Christ I see them as good.

If someone uses lies, distorts and twists quotes to “attack” a ministry or Church I see that as divisive and against what the bible teaches. It is those type of sites we stand against.

Disagreement is not a sin… bu divisiveness, slander and lying are… truth does not need the tools of the world to protect it. Truth protects us as we are in Christ who is Truth Personified. To use the worlds tools as some sites do show only that they have fallen from the truth and love the lie that the world is better than Jesus.

    I hope that helps.
